PRESIDENTS SERIES - FAKE MODS BEWARE

In the 1980's, West End Watch Co. (WEWCo.) did a series of watches with Presidents. Genuine models from this series are seldom seen or available on the resale market.

However, it is common however to see in marketplaces (across South and East Asia)  and on online websites watches from other makers where the dials have been modified and printed to seem like one of these West End President series models. Below is an example of what is a Alexandria Quartz timepiece from the 1990’s where the dial has been modified and printed by someone else for the watch to be posed as a West End Watch Co timepiece.  This practice is commonly found and such watches can be seen in markets across India and Thailand etc.

Those with a sharp eye for WEWCo. timepieces will be able to tell that the quality of printing, font and dial markers on these timepieces are not of a quality or standard expected of an original WEWCo. timepiece. Also the boxing/casing can be identified as carrying the WEWCo. logo and font that are not original.

Below are snapshots from the assembly line at WEWCo. in Leytron of dials in production from the Presidents series manufactured in the 1980s using a quartz movement.
