THE TORNEAU

Here is an original Torneau 18ct yellow gold ladies wristwatch model featuring a secondary sub dial, black Roman numerals and blued hands. A fine example of early 1900's swiss watch manufacturing. 

The Torneau (a term referring to the case shape) garnered much liking and dominance at the start of the 20th Century and became a featured dial shape for many prestigious watch makers of the day such as Cartier, Vacheron Constantin, Zenith and Longines.

This model featured in early to mid 1900 adverts by West End Watch Co. (see last picture, 2nd from top, right column

This particular Torneau timepiece (as pictured below) has recently come up for sale at Walsh Bros Jewellers (of Tunbridge Wells) and is found in great condition.
